Our mission is to be a voice for residents in sustainable community development.
Maryland Heights Residents for Responsible Growth is a group of concerned citizens formed in 2008 in response to plans by the City of Maryland Heights and private developers to build extensive commercial properties in the Howard Bend floodplain – the unique open green space between Creve Coeur Lake and the Missouri River. While those plans thankfully deteriorated, we have since organized to educate ourselves and fellow residents about the opportunities -- and the threats -- presented by development activity in Maryland Heights.
Established 25 years ago, Maryland Heights is at a crossroads. What direction our town takes in the coming years is, in large part, up to us the residents. Join us in creating a stronger, more vibrant, and healthier community for residents and businesses alike.

Our Goals
Maryland Heights Residents for Responsible Growth is dedicated to these four goals:
Preserve Howard Bend green space
We favor land use and zoning policies that restrict urban sprawl, preserve farmland and focus development resources on established city districts. We advocate for responsible flood plain utilization that minimizes risk to commercial and residential interests, and promotes environmental stewardship.
Revitalize our neighborhoods
We are dedicated to focusing development efforts on established city districts, rather than expanding business or residential activities in the Howard Bend floodplain. Our revitalization efforts may include economic development, neighborhood stabilization, infrastructure improvements, transit systems, or environmental enhancements.
Protect our environment
We advocate for policies and practices that protect the natural environment, making our city a good steward of the land and a healthier place for people. We promote the growth and preservation of green spaces, and encourage green building standards.
Promote public engagement
We encourage and empower residents to be actively involved in the city’s development. We are committed to ensuring open government processes that allow meaningful participation by residents.
